Foi obtida uma amostra das criancas atendidas pelo programa em duas regioes da cidade, campo limpo e itaquera-guaianazes, e levantados os dados de peso e idade ao longo das visitas destas as unidades. Analisadas as variacoes do percentil peso para a idade e do z-score peso para a idade, observou-se que as melhoras em relacao a estes indicadores eram poucas. A grande maioria dos casos teve evolucao nula e um numero apreciavel apresentou piora. O grande numero de criancas admitidas, abaixo dos seis meses de idade e acima do percentil 10 do peso para a idade, parece ser responsavel por grande parte destes achados. Avaliou-se ainda a atitude dos profissionais frente ao programa. Constata que a ineficacia e o baixo impacto das campanhas sobre aids estimula o medo e comportamentos inadequados. Propoe a elaboracao de programas educativos sobre aids utilizando como referencial teorico o esquema precede de green et al. Os objetivos do estudo foram elaborar e implementar um programa educativo sobre aids verificando de antemao o conhecimento da populacao sobre o assunto. A populacao do estudo foi constituida por 2.571 trabalhadores de empresas sediadas na grande sao paulo. Os resultados evidenciaram elevado grau de desinformacao (84,1%) entre a populacao e apenas a minoria (15,9%) demonstrou ter conhecimento adequado sobre a aids. Foi realizado um programa de educacao em saude sobre aids que envolveu 962 trabalhadores. Destes 707 participaram de nova investigacao sobre conhecimento a respeito da aids. Destacou-se que as adolescentes engravidaram solteiras numa relação de namoro com homens mais velhos, após a interrupção do uso de método anticoncepcional, sugerindo exposição voluntária ao risco de engravidar. A gravidez mostrou-se fator de mudança da situação conjugal dessas jovens; não se constituiu uma causa principal da interrupção dos estudos, revelando-se importante para tal, a necessidade de trabalhar e a falta de motivação pelos estudos. A primeira relação sexual e a primeira gravidez ocorreram, na maioria, entre os 15 e 17 anos. Registrou-se alta freqüência de cesárea. O inicio da assistência pré-natal e peso ao nascer mostraram-se associados a idade materna.
